Overactive bladder treatment

Since radiation and chemo treatment I have an overactive bladder. My oncologist put me on oxybutynin about a year ago, but this had little impact and a few negative side effects for me. I go back to my oncologist on Friday, so am willing to try again. Any suggestions. I read there are a range of alternatives including Tolterodine ( Detrol ), Solifenacin (Vesicare) and Trospium (Sanctura). Has anyone tried these?

I have overactive bladder, too. I take Mirabegron (brand name is Myrbetriq). It helps a lot.

Good luck finding the right solution for you!

Thanks for that. Any side effects?

No. I had to try 2 other prescriptions that were cheaper before my insurance company would give me this one. They were terrible. I’d wake you in the middle of the night and my tongue was literally stuck to the roof of my mouth. They both completely dried me out. I have not had any side effects. I believe some people may get a rise in blood pressure. But my BP has been low since diagnosis, so it’s not a problem for me.

Hope you get the relief you seek! So hard to get a quality nights sleep when you are up every hour or two. Hang in there!

Agree, it works. But I still have BPH near the bladder neck so starting a stream early in the am is difficult.

Thought about having a TURP but my Urologist believes that may cause a bigger leak.

So I guess I am stuck the Mybertric.

Some things that are triggers for overactive bladder that you can control.

1) no alcohol

2) no caffeine

3) loose belly weight

4) exercise.

All of the above helped alot.

5) there is a procedure to stimulate the Tibal nerve with acupuncture. Waiting to see if the procedure will be covered.

Thanks for your reply. I follow all 4 of your above suggestions - exercise everyday & have lost 20 kgms over the last few months & had a Turp a year before my PCa diagnosis in 2016. I will ask my oncologist to put me on Mybertic.

Mybertric worked for me.

No more pads.

A suggestion, this could be loss of sphincter strength whether than overactive bladder. Ask your doctor about it. This happened to me and my doctor advised that I take imipramine.
