Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of treatment of Prostate Cancer with yttrium-90, copper (64Cu), scandium (44Sc), and/or terbium (152Tb/161Tb)?

Does anyone have any interest in this?

"The present review features the Bad Berka experience with first-in-human studies of new radiopharmaceuticals, for example, prostate-specific membrane antigen ligand, gastrin-releasing peptide receptor, neurotensin receptor 1 ligand, novel SSTR-targeting peptides and nonpeptide, and bone-seeking radiopharmaceuticals. Also new radioisotopes, for example, actinium (225Ac), copper (64Cu), scandium (44Sc), and terbium (152Tb/161Tb) will be discussed briefly demonstrating the development from basic science to precision oncology in the clinical setting."

The Australian for profit group have tried Yterium and stopped. The are about to try Ac225 with Lu177, both at low dose. The field is absorbing a great deal of research and RCT interest. My brother is one of their model Lu177 patients after 4 cycles over 18 months.

What's the name of the Australian group?

Its the same group that treated Patrick Turner: Theranostics Australia, based in Perth Australia. I can recall my brother telling me that they do Ytrrium, but not for PCa. In fact, they refer to 4 radiotracers for various diseases on their web site.

Ac 225 PSMA is being used for PC treatment in Europe, South Africa and Australia. It could be more effective than Lu 177 PSMA when there are bone metastases and diffuse infiltration of the bone marrow. Ac 225 emits alpha particles which have more ionizing power and travel a shorter distance than the beta particles emitted by Lu 177 ,

The other metals are being investigated, mainly for diagnosis of PC

44Sc has a longer half life than Ga68 and it could offer a clinical advantage:

They will have to show that these ligands offer an advantage over Ga 68 PSMA, 18F DCFPyl , Lu 177 PSMA, or Ac 225.

Hi cesanon,

During my discussions with the chief doctor and others at Theranostics Australia who provided me with 4 x Lu177 shots between last November and May, there was no mention that radioactive isotopes of yytrium, scandium, copper or terbium would ever be used for prostate cancer. There may be other medical uses for these nuclides.

Actinium and lutetium are being used widely.

I guess research is continuing on these things, and on the ligand chemicals which will bind the nuclides to the cancer site, and even go right inside cancer sites via the blood vessels established by the cancer.

The bottom line is that we can only get what is available now, lutetium177 and actinium225 which can be made to bind onto and within cancer cells. We can get radium223, which does not need a ligand but gathers where abnormal calcium activity is going on in bones.

But I have some arthritis where abnormal Ca activity is going on so would the Ra223 gather where arthritis was increasing? What would be the outcome?

Would damage to healthy bone occur at sites where there is arthritis activity?

How would the function of bone joints with arthritis be affected?

Nobody would be too keen to have Ra223 if it meant that all their old bone joints that were becoming arthritic became a lot worse and a man became bedridden and in pain, thus loose his independence and need total care.

He may need Fentanyl, and become addicted to it, but get respite from Pca, but not be able to do very much.

Patrick Turner.

Good question. I had Ra223 on my to do list. On maybe list now. Things change daily. Provenge is my probable next step, which we all know, may or may not work, works for some but not all. Anybody's head spinning yet? Cheers to you and everyone in Oz.
