Your thoughts... The cancer has metastasized to the right lung and is blocking 50% of the airflow. The plan is to perform 15 low dose radiation treatments. So far, he has had 5 treatments and there is no improvement is in breathing... The onco and radiologist are indicating that after a few more treatments the breathing should get better... ??? (FYI - wides spread mets in bones, mets in pelvic lymphnodes and mets in liver... plus the lung issue)... There will be no other treatments until the radiation is completed. Last chemo was on 08/09/19. Thoughts?
Lungs: Your thoughts... The cancer has... - Advanced Prostate...
Lungs
There is Provenge. But the condition of your lungs may prevent that tube from being inserted into your chest.
Our onco doesn't believe in the provenge treatment...
Maybe you need to consult with another doctor.
Wow,sorry to hear that, but you are making me wonder as well cause Myhubby58 just had his first dosage of taxotere and now he has pneumonia, which means he also has a lung issue.
Let us know if the obstruction gets ablated - low dose radiation can take a while to shrink it.
They are doing low dose radiation as the mass is pressing on the secondary bronchi... so, they said they need to be careful so they don't cause damage. Are you aware of anyones whose cancer has metastasized to lungs and they had radiation treatments?
I know a man who had a second primary lung cancer and had radiation for it
Did it work/help????
Well, at 3 months, there is no evidence of disease on scans.
I don't know how applicable this is to your situation but:
My wife started with colon cancer - treatment was chemo plus radiation plus surgery. Every indicator was a cure, then she had final PET scan that showed metastases to the lungs. Her oncologist told me privately "there is zero chance we cure this."
She had more chemo and stereo-tactic ablation radiation therapy.
She's been free of any indication of cancer for over 5 years - PET scan and CEA. X-ray shows the scars but they are stable.
You may try some natural remedies as well and see if it helps. Some swear by apricot seeds, Modified Citrus Pectin, and AHCC. Just a few... no guarantees but....
This is a slower process with lower radiation. It takes longer for the tissues to die, to shrink down and to open up the passageways. Give it 3-6 weeks and he will feel an improvement in breathing; you will see it.
Thank you... Your statement is music to my ears!!!... Now, on top of the radiation, the onco said they are going to put a stint in his bronchi. Due to scheduling, that procedure can't happen until next week. Maybe God will open up a slot a little sooner! He is so ready to have his breathing back!!!
Sorry for late response, only now saw this thread.
A very good friend that has had the full Monte of therapies going back to 2004 was found to have numerous Mets to each lung after latest scan. Was it PCa or was it LC?
After difficult to achieve biopsy, was found to be PCa once accomplished.
Had genetic make up forPdl-1 which was once required for Keytruda..Now perhaps not.
Was administered several infusions of Keytruda under guidance of Tanya Dorff and our local MO.
Close to two years later, lungs remain clear and all appears very good. PSA is currently undetectable.
Wow!!! I am so happy to hear this. He had his first treatment of opdivo and yervoy today. Praying to God that the treatment works!!!
