My latest bone scan on April 8, 2019, showed T-scores as follows:
Lumbar spine (-2.4)
Left hip (-2.2)
Right hip (-2.0)
Right femoral neck (-2.6)
My understanding of these scores is that the first 4 scores shows osteopenia and the last one shows osteoporosis.
My local MO has put me on Xgeva on a three month rotation. I recently had a consult with a PCa specialist at OHSU in Portland, Oregon, and she recommended Xgeva at 60 mg doses every 6 months. I will see my MO at the end of this month and will see if he agrees with the 6 month rotation. Do any of my brothers on this site have any suggestions?

TA, I tried to read the study you cited but could find no findings that adding celebrex to xgeva would increase survival. Clearly, I am not conversant with the jargon used in these studies. Would you mind quoting the part of the study that shows increased survival? Thanks.
It's about adding Celebrex to Zometa. I'm guessing it would work just as well with Xgeva. "Preplanned subgroup analyses in men with metastatic disease showed a hazard ratio of 0.78 (95% CI, 0.62 to 0.98; P = .033) for SOC + ZA + Cel." The hazard ratio of 0.78 means a 22% increase in survival.
I have not had any side effects to Xgeva. But I can see how some might. Xgeva I have been told is a very strong Prolia. Some have experienced difficulties with Prolia. My wife is now trying to decide if she should take Prolia.
I was doing the same for quite awhile after bone mets but after my bone density scan came out normal I switched to same dose at three months . I may move to six months. I’ve been on200 mg celecoxib for many years before PCa.
Doctors told my husband his bones miraculously healed with the Xgeva. After many years on it he graduated to every 6 months about a year ago. Oh... he was and continue's to take Celebrex.
Thanks-looks we are on the same path except my doses are Lupron every 3 months, Zytiga at 750mg daily, and one prednisone 5mg daily. My MO says he will shift me to Xgeva at 6 month intervals.
