Anyone have Reclast(zoledronic acid) with bad symptoms?

My father had an infusion of Reclast (zoledronic acid) yesterday and he is having terrible symptoms today. He is having severe back pain, tiredness, and muscle weakness. He is having problems moving around and just wants to sleep.

Just wanted to see if anyone else had the year infusion and had symptoms similar to these.

I had significant fatigue, I just wanted to sleep, and low fever after the first infusion of Zoledronic acid. Sometimes taking Tyleno the day of the infusion and a couple of days after the infusion may help. These are the most common side effects of Zoledronic acid:

We ended up taking him to the emergency room because his temperature hit 104. He was also having severe muscle spasms and a lot of pain in his back. Hospital said that no bacterial infection or virus. Was the side effects of the Reclast infusion. He got hit with all the worst ones.

I hope he will recover soon. For some reason the following infusions of zoledronic acid did not affect me like the first one. Consider the possibility they change from Zoledronic acid to Prolia or Xgeva.

My husband had a year+ of monthly infusions of Zometa. (zolendronic acid) Every month there were different, miserable side effects. No two months were the same so he wasn't sure if it was the Zometa or cancer starting up again, or what. I am sure it helped since he has no osteoporosis after 15 years of Lupron shots!

Thanks for your reply. He ended up just having a terrible reaction to the Reclast. Ever single bad symptom he had. He is stable today but still in the hospital because they just want to keep him one more day.

Most oncologists will put you on Xgeva or the lower dose of Xgeva "Prolia". Has fewer fracture side effects. Yes, those drugs can cause fractures, and it can be confusing when your oncologist sees a fracture. Was it cancer? "pathological fracture" or was it the drug side effect?

I had a fracture from those drugs (Fosamax, and Zometa) and it was misdiagnosed as a pathological fracture. Wasted a radiation treatment on that spot. Should have done a biopsy first to confirm. I was not cancer because PSA was only 0.5 and PSA kept going up after radiation of that spot. Switched to Xgeva.
