About 5 years ago my husband was on Zolodex for 6 months. His psa dropped and the tumors in his prostate shrunk by about 50%. He lost a 'lot' of muscle mass with this protocol.
We are approaching another round, maybe 3 to 6 months of Zolodex again, though this time we are thinking of adding estrogen to help keep his bones strong. Not sure about the correlation to muscle mass though I think maybe there is.
I'd like to hear about others who have done this. Also, when my husband was on estrogen patches for 3 years, which kept his psa down he would use 5 patches a week. We are going to talk to our oncologists about the number of patches this time .. I think it was mentioned as being one patch a week.
I'm interested in opinions and experience with the combination.
We are 12 years with a stage iv diagnosis. We keep switching things up. It's often nerve racking and tedious, but he's still here with me. We have experimented with no looking back.
