How do we calculate the 5, 10 or more years?

Hi Brothers,

Just out of curiosity. I was diagnosed in October 2017, Stage 4 Gleason 4+3 Psa was at 192 at age 57+. It’s been one year and five months now. Psa is at 1.75 now, lowest I managed to hit was 1.70 in February 2019. I have done chemo and I am on 3 monthly Lucrin jabs ever since. I am still working as a civil servant in sunny Singapore 🇸🇬 and hope to retire by end of this year.

My question:

So does it mean my 5 years will be at October, 2022? Or have I got it wrong?

Any one good to clear this fog for me? Haven’t got a chance to ask my urologist on this. Partly, afraid and I rather trust all the brothers here for an answer.

My best regards to all.

IMO, a better mindset would be to disregard the survivability numbers and develop a plan of attack to utilize all available tools/weapons at your disposal to defeat the bastard TODAY. Personally, I turn everything over to the Lord and don the whole armour of God each wake-up, then follow my diet/exercise/task schedule with no concern for longevity, for the most part.

Don't waste battle energy on worry. It's counterproductive, and you may lose an opportunity to exploit a weakness in the crab's armor by being otherwise occupied.

Battle can be exhilarating. You don't want to live more than 120 or so years, anyway-right? Use that number and pull out all the stops.

You're blessed to have landed on this site; you'll find no better for an info/Intel source.

a perfect example is Nalakrats 'proffered opinion, there.

That's solid intel.

I think it is premature to put numbers to your life expectancy.

If that drives your daily approach to living, I fear you are using a clouded lens.

If you read and research enough, you should be able to answer your own question.

NOBODY knows for sure and I doubt you'll get a straight answer from a medical professional UNLESS you are way further down the line of symptoms and pain management issues.

There are new techniques / technologies coming down the pipe to hopefully make this disease more manageable - maybe better cure rates.

IF I was counting years, I'd expect that a pleasant surprise might finally manifest itself.

STOP counting and start living !

If your PSA is starting to rise again, you can get Zytiga or Xtandi.

Appreciate it :)

I don't know where you got a 5 year survivability but don't let anyone tell you how much time you have. My first surgeon told me I had 5 to 10 years. That was 26 years ago. There are certainly more options out there than I was diagnosed, ADT, immunotherapy, etc.

Get to a Oncologist who specializes in Prostate cancer (Pca) then throw out all the calendars you have.

Here's how to calculate 5, 10 years. Place a large bunch of pieces of paper with the number 5 written on them and some with the number 10's written on them. Place them in large hat (or Mexican sombrero) and mix them all up. Next wear a blindfold and scientifically place your hand in the hat and draw out one piece of paper. Whatever paper you pull out take it to your urologist and shove it up his ass. That's called a DRPE "Digital Rectal Prediction Exam", I bet he'll love it.

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.
