Hi,

I had similar side effects. A remedy would be to cool the fingers and toes while chemo (maybe).

My uro had the suggestion to use uv resistant nail polish. But that did not work. After the chemo, the discoloration usually grows out. The numb feeling can disappear or remain. Unfortunately the chemo attacks also the nerves. I wish you all the best !

Yep. No big deal, relatively; am I correct?

I experienced neuropathy in all my toes during chemo. It started with my smaller toes after the fourth session and extended to all by the sixth. I finished chemo in December too. The feeling came back to my largest toes but the two smallest on each foot are still numb. The doctor said it can take months to go away or it may be a permanent side effect of the chemo. My toes never turned grey but the nails changed consistency and I experienced an ingrown toenail for the first time in my life. I'm not sure if that is related to the chemo. Good luck to you both. I hope the chemo had the desired effect on his cancer. It did for me so far.

I had so many issues with my big toe nails after chemo and all the other drugs I just had them permanently removed. Couldn't be happier with that decision.

I've read here many times that icing fingers and toes while receiving chemo prevents problems with you finger and toe nails.

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

I lost both my big toes after 8 cycles chemo. They have pretty much grown back. But will never be as pretty as they used to be. Fingernails warped during chemo and had rings like a tree stump for each time I got chemo. They are fine now. I got foot neuropathy after chemo. Very annoying. I don't believe there is a cure. Haven't found one yet. If toenails fall off don't mess with the ugliness underneath. I just lightly taped gauze over it and voila, next day you could see the shape of the new toenail. Wore open toed sandals for a while. With white socks. At my age, fashion be damned.

6 mo. after chemo. fluid and bubbles under big toe nails, had them removed. 13 mo after chemo. they are half way back. Also lost various other nails. Neuropathy seem to never go away, fingers and toes and balls of feet. Backs of hands dead, backed up by upper extremity nerve study. Lots of damage to sensory nerves, less to motor nerves. .
