SPPORT Trial Phase 3. Radiation and Hormone Therapy Combo May Help Prevent Cancer’s Return After Prostatectomy

I had prostatectomy and I have often thought what would have happened if I had added pelvic nodes radiation and ADT to my first recurrence. I interpret the results of this trial pointing us in that direction for SOC. Apologies if this has already been posted.

I have the same situation and did only the prostate bed with no adt and sometimes I also wonder but you are more courageous than me because you are trying to do something about it now, I am not. I will see my mo in a few days and will ask him but I am very scared of the radiation. Hard decisions

I feel for you brother!

Having already had Prostate Bed Radiation with 0 side effects and 0 complications I am not concerned moving forward with radiation to the pelvic lymph nodes. My RO told me last week that it is less likely to have negative issues with the pelvic area than there was with the prostate bed. I have never found it to be productive talking with my MO about radiation; have you discussed with your RO?

Thanks, Jim

This is the thing that drives me crazy, why a MO sees the studies and then dismiss it and then a RO approves of it. It SHOULD be clear so we patients don’t go nuts trying to find the optimum treatments. What also bothers me behind anything I can write is that I have to spend lots and lots of my own time trying to research treatments. People around me think I am taking it too far and stop reading on the internet about treatments.

I am a little aggressive by nature but this path I have chosen is well trodden with good results. I would like to try and zap and kill the cancer in the pelvic lymph nodes while it's still small while systemically treating the rest of my system with ADT for 2 years.

Whatever you decide to do I wish you the best!

Its your life . Let them think what they want. They’re not in your shoes. It’s easy to overload with tmi. Everybody wants you to follow thier ways instead of you finding things out for yourself . You’ve got to have a dr to trust..

"Having already had Prostate Bed Radiation with 0 side effects and 0 complications"

Except years later it appears that my left urinary tract was fried. I've mentioned this before. Just want to let people know that sometimes the side effects don't reveal themselves until later.

I guess that will cost me 2 cents (charge it to my ex-wife, she got the mine and i got the shaft).

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

I agree that it is an important study, but read the last paragraph in my article about it:

pcnrv.blogspot.com/2018/10/...

There will be subsequent analyses of the data that will inform us about in exactly which situations whole pelvic salvage radiation makes a difference.
