My husband is on 12 hour morphine. It has been a big improvement from oxy.

Short course radiation on lower vertebra and left upper pelvic area worked for me. I’m now being assessed for similar treatment upper left pelvic area. Unfortunately cancer has spread into the liver giving intense pain. 12 mg - Hydromorphone every 12 hours, plus 4mg short term Hydromorphone as needed (approx evert 2 hours) seems to be holding me reasonably well.

My husband also had a short course of radiation (5) on his left hip and also on his lumbar area which completely eliminated the pain.

Fortunately we are in a state that allows medical marijuana which does the trick.

Now replying from hospital, where I’ve just learned I’m one of the unfortunate few where the Prostate has not only metastised to upper pelvic areas and lower vertebra, but now to the liver. More tests starting tomorrow as to best form of treatment for that development. Seems my window of survivability is growing shorter. Not looking for sympathy. Being pragmatic and taking the hits as they come. My friend here in Kelowna is in worse shape than me. Unfortunately, from my point of view his wife has not let family or close friends know that he has Cancer. I’ve taken the approach that all family and friends should be aware of the disease from onset and of the disease progression.

I am so sorry to hear that.

They are going to find a treatment to give you much more life!

I'm so sorry to hear - keeping you in my prayers. Doesn't Canada have some great things going on regarding PCa? Regarding your friend, I'm so sorry to hear this, but understand completely. My husband is English, we were living there at the time he was diagnosed 5 years ago. It took him a year to tell his family. Once he did, he was so much happier NONE of his friends know; ALL mine know.

Fentanyl patches.

Perhaps the best way to relieve the pain is to treat the metastases if it is possible. If you already had Xofigo, there is also the possiblity to enter a clinical trial for Lu 177 PSMA or AC 225 PSMA treatment. There are several clinical trials available in the USA.

Fentanyl patches worked for me. I also got extensive relief from a short course of radiation to my back .. is this still an option for you.

Radiation is at its limit.

Calling oncology as several have advised fentanyl patch

See if you can seek palliative care.

Radiation, decadron, morphine may help but if you have access to a palliative care team or hospice care partake of it.

It’s a wholistic approach that can help the body and the mind.

Used Hydromorphone first ,then radiation followed by Xofigo to treat metastasis. Now use Fetanyl patches with Hydromorphone for break through pain.

I used radiation and 2 timed released 600mg Tylenol (generic). They are 8 hour and let me get through the night. I was a drug addict earlier in my life and did not want to get hooked again.

I use time release morphine. It comes in a variety of mg. I take 30 mg twice a day and it keeps the pain manageable. I also keep OxyContin as a break thru if needed

OK, here is the scoop. I was diagnosed 20 years ago with Stage IV Metastatic terminal cancer. The about 4 years later the bones Mets started and I have been in pain treatment ever since. My current regimen includes, Embeda once a day(morphine) Cymbalta (twice a day) Tramadol (3 times a day) Tai Chi, walking, aquatic exercise and diversions like music, laughter, getting outside and carrying on.

NOW listen up. Go to Coursera a free web based College and take their class on Pain. It is extraordinary and covers ALL the aspects of pain and relief therefrom. The best advice I have found in 15 its so years in pain.

Thanks for the tip.

Will check it out.

So are you telling me you have lived 20 years with MCRPC with bone Mets?

Your treatment regimen was obviously very successful.

Did they do radical prostatectomy at time of diagnosis?

What treatment regimen ?

Been fighting same battle after xofigo failed. Current regimen finally has pain fairly well under control: Hydromorphone 8 mg 4 times/day, methadone 30 mg 3 times/day, fentanyl patch. Going to start radiation treatment in week. (Good to hear so many here have had succerss with that!) .... emergency appendectomy thrown in last week just for good measure! GOOD LUCK to you!

No one treatment has worked for my husband. It takes quite a combination. Oxycodone, Cymbalta, Fentanyl patches, Celebrex and Marijuana in between drug testing. I hope by now you've found relief.
