Wondering if anyone has had a second LU 177 injection? I’m three weeks after my first injection and feeling good except for fatigue and some back pain. Next injection in 3 weeks so wondering if second shot side effects are similar to the first.
LU177 PSMA: Wondering if anyone has had... - Advanced Prostate...
LU177 PSMA

I am in the trial at the Mayo in Rochester
I was fortunate to get in. First 2 weeks I felt like crap but am pretty much back to normal now. Next shot is mid November so hoping for good results. I’ll keep posting as I go through the study.
Is your treatment part of a clinical trial ? Is so, which one ?
lu77 so what does it do for u. does it replace the painful shot of eliguard/lupron i heard its in england i hear the fda has excepted it in the usa not sure what it does???
It delivers a nuclear payload to the cancer cells which express PSMA. The material binds to the cell and the radiation kills the cell. Since the radiation can only travel 1mm it has minimal effects on surrounding healthy cells.
In the US it is still in clinical trials but hopefully will move forward as a standard of care treatment
I felt a little more fatigue and nausea after the second treatment...not too bad...just take it slow for a week or two
Thanks for this information. I had pretty bad fatigue after the first shot for about a week and a half. I’m hoping next one won’t be worse
I had a Lu-177 at UCLA a month ago and PSA afterwards was 0.02. The problem is that my CBC showed extreme anemia. I am through at UCLA until and if the anemia numbers get closer to normal range. Anyone with same problem?
Hello jackpine, i had my first Lu-177 around 5 weeks now & next MO appointment is 7th Nov so will find out if i need another one then. Apart from the cost i feal fine as i did not go through the usual ADT treatment, just 5 months on casodex & 1 luprin shot.
Will let everyone know my psa when i know myself.
I am 5 days after my first treatment of 6.5GBq. Slight nausea not requiring any meds (burping helps), tiredness ( I have an afternoon nap) and a sore hip which only feels like a pulled muscle and it comes and goes. Not sure this is bone pain or not?
Wonder what the next blood test will show.
80years old fellow with me getting his second treatment says first treatment halved his PSA
Please keep posting.
My brother had two Lu-177 injections in Sydney in April and June 2017. His PSA dropped to around one. His PET scan showed at least 30 growths in the bones had disappeared. Only two small spots on his ribs remained. Doctor decided not to zap them by conventional radiation or give a third injection (US7K each). Bad mistake.
Quarterly PSA scan all around one, until last month. PSA 6.2 and now doubled to 12.8 . Put back on Lupron and will start with enzalutamide when he returns from three week cruise . Likely to have another injection of Lu-177 just before Xmas.
The numerous clinical trials going on, should reveal much more about the effectiveness of Lu-177 therapy. The group that treated my brother have now treated 300 men with this number increasing rapidly. See theranostic.com.au .
