Wait a minute...Not so fast! I don't think anyone can answer that based on info provided. Best resource is your doctor on recommended medications in regard to what is being treated + possible interactions w/current medications.

Best Wishes

Hahaha ! Sorry guys ! I was attending a conference Norfolk, VA today and inadvertently typed this into this field as Dr. Myers was answering a question. I just wanted to make myself a note to research the subject...but I was simultaneously reading some previous, relevant posts on the subject matter at hand, and forgot to switch over to my memo/notes page...p.s. This conference has been very worthwhile for us !

in reply toJscjac

Oh OK...In that case the answer is YES, but ONLY if you submit a synopsis highlighting key points from the conference. :-)

Wow. I would say the takeaway from the sessions that we attended, is that the focus of these medical professionals is to manage advanced PCa as a chronic illness,(not a new or novel concept), and that there are many effective protocols, with more advances in the pipeline. It was by no means, pollyannaish, but covered the challenges and the advances in a very balanced manner. We came mainly to hear Dr. Myers, but all docs/presenters were interesting, informed and engaged with the audience.

in reply toJscjac

Glad you found it worthwhile/interesting. Thanks for the summary.

Ed, we have never had the opportunity to meet or speak with Dr. Myers. Wow ! What an incredible mind. He appeared somewhat fragile, physically. (We did not know he has Parkinson’s.). But so far as his knowledge and rapport with the audience, he is amazing. I can understand how/why his former patients are still missing him.

Amazing doctor treated the whole body not just PCa. Many of the treatments he used were out of the box and just now being recognized. I credit him with saving my life and adding years to my survival.

We sought him out as my husband's doc upon receiving his diagnosis (Stage 4/metastatic). Unfortunately, he had retired just shortly prior to that time. 😏

I was given same DX about four and a half years ago, if your curious what treatment, tests etc Snuffy prescribed let me know. I’m still on most of the same meds and supplements and getting same labs done.

in reply toEdBar

Hello. I read dr Myers book and would be interested on your treatment specifically. You got it right from the source! I wished he hadn’t retired. My husband diagnosed in 2016. Would you mind sharing?

If you do a friend request you can send a message once I accept so we can discuss. A lot of info is in my profile but if your interested in labs, supplements, etc. I'd be glad to share.

We were there as well and enjoyed seeing them. I was the one who noted that they obviously don’t seem to have had cognitive decline from their chosen treatments.

Regarding aspirin I took their response to be a definite no on aspirin especially after the recent study results. My husband stopped his a few weeks ago.

Good morning… Just curious of why there was a “definite no“? I just started !

Oh ! It would have been so cool to meet ! I almost posted to see if anyone else on this forum was in attendance. I haven’t done any other reading yet, but I also took the response as a definite no.

Yes it would have been nice to meet. I met one person who had been on here previously but says he rarely comes on here any more as he has his own blog now.

Both Dr. Myers and Shellhammer having had pCa for so many years and taking different treatment courses was so interesting to hear them being discussed candidly by them as patients. Such humility and compassion from them.

It was based on the recent study results that it does more harm than good. I believe it focused on elderly so you might be excluded.

In terms of cardio benefits, low-dose aspirin is only beneficial if there has already been a CVD event. Otherwise, risks outweigh benefits.

In terms of PCa, inhibition of platelet aggregation may lower the risk of mets. Personally, I think that nattokinase is safer.

I was at the VA Beach meeting too and was surprised by this information on stopping aspirin. I heart Dr recommends this for me, although I did have a TIA back in 2008 several weeks after my prostatectomy. Need to speak to him this coming week.

Great meeting by the way.

in reply toBlueslover

Can you expound on this aspirin issue a bit?

Blueslover profile image

The information was that it does more harm than good. I suspect that this isn't the case if one has risk factors for stroke/heart attack as I have (TIA).

Will check with my cardiologist this week.
