The Endocyte trial (now in Houston and Omaha) will be expanding to 40 sites within the next 3 months. Patients are randomized 2:1 to receive Lu-177-PSMA-617 or placebo. You must have had 1 or 2 cycles of taxanes, and Zytiga or Xtandi. No cost for drugs.

I read where one of the major side effects is the destruction of the salivary glands. Not good. My thyrhoid was burned out by Keytruda and am now on thyrhoid meds and Keytruda didnt work. I dont know if I would risk it. Could jeapardize dental health and with zometa infusions that would be a nightmare if one developed necrosis of the jaw.

It could affect the salivary glands but using cold pads reduce the risk. I had the treatment in 2016 and I do not have any problem with the salivary or the lachrymal glands.

Xofigo changed my sense of taste. It is similar to lutetium. Where did u apply cold pads?

When I had the treatment I was in ADT (2 months) with lupron and casodex. I had a Ga 68 PSMA PET/CT the day before the treatment. PSA at that time was 0.8 . The lymph nodes metastasis were present.

Five weeks after the Lu 177 PSMA treatment I got another Ga 68 PSMA PET/CT and the metastasis were gone. The second Lu 177 PSMA treatment was cancelled because not metastasis were visualized.

I continue in ADT since my testes stopped producing testosterone. The lupron was stopped after the Lu 177 treatment but the testes never recovered.

I continue with casodex and my PSA is 0.05. We'll see what happens. If the PSA starts going up, when it is around 0.3-0.5 I'll will get another Ga 68 PSMA PET/CT and if there are metastasis I will have one or more Lu 177 treatment.

I went to the Technical University in Munich. The hospital is called : Klinikum rechts der Isar.
