Thanks to the efforts of many prostate cancer patients like you, the Department of Defense, Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP), the Prostate Research Program (PCRP) has been funded by Congress for over 20 years. Since its establishment, the PCRP has received Congressional Appropriations over $1.53 billion and has funded more than 3,158 awards. Congress has funded the PCRP for FY 2018 in the amount of $100 Million.
Malecare has interviewed and recommended consumer reviewers for ten years. Everyone here is a member of our online support group....some of you are active volunteers in our national advocacy program....you will all be recommended by and represent Malecare. Representing Malecare and our prostate cancer community is rewarding and gratifying.
You are invited to represent the voice of the Prostate Cancer community by reviewing the impact of proposed research applications. Please email me at darryl@malecare.org if you are interested.
Novice consumer reviewers will serve on scientific peer review panels, together with scientist reviewers, to review research applications submitted to CDMRP for funding.
Please send an email to me for the application form. For an individual to be considered for service, three required items must be sent electronically to CSRA for consideration:
1. The electronic nomination form, a fillable PDF, to be completed and sent by the nominee
2. A current resume to be sent by the nominee
3. A letter of nomination, from Malecare, describing the nominee’s potential to represent the Prostate Cancer community’s voice. This letter may be sent to us directly by Malecare or electronically provided to the nominee to include in their packet.
