At which stage can the Urologist decide that One may now discontinue having Zoladex inj. and is it possible for a medium term Period?

Discontinue of Zoladex
For advanced prostate cancer, you NEVER discontinue Zoladex completely, unless you have an orchiectomy. It may be possible to have vacations from it for limited periods, depending on your situation.
Is it true that after many years on lupron/zolodex the body may no longer produce T , and at that point would lupron/zolodex not be nessecary? I have had only 1 zolodex in last 4 years, and that was just recently when t went to 44.
Hi Dan
Thanks for the Feedback, but I have been on Zoladex 5 years now, and the Doc told me that the Cancer cells build resistance against the Injection, sort of confusing, but also seems True
That won't happen in every case - the testicles can come out of their induced coma at any time. But if the desire is to keep the testicles from producing T permanently, why not just have them removed? If you are on intermittent ADT and want periodic vacations from the side effects, then the non-recovery of your T production is not what you want.
Hi Nalakrats, interesting topic: Was just wondering if I could discontinue my Zoladex,at least for a period, and see if my Fatique and other side effects do improve. How does one determine if You can let go of HT.
