Chemo round 7 was monday. Been feeling great. PSA still 0.1! Out of nowhere got a bad fever - no prior cough or symptoms. MO sent me to ER. I have pneumonia! Feeling a bit scared since this is the kind of thing us chemo patients die from. Send prayers.

Damn, BigM62! I’m glad your MO got you to the ER right away. My best thoughts coming your way.

Our prayers are with you! 🙏

Press on - you can put this setback behind you quickly! I know it’s painful - had pneumonia a long time ago. Hurts like *ell! But coughing helps clear it up ... along with the breathing treatments.

Please keep us posted!

Praying for your fever to break, and great recovery, a friend of mine is doing Chemo and the same thing happened to him, he is doing better,me I'm doing radiation but when I leave the house I wear gloves and never take them off because I know dealing with cancer our immune system take a big hit, so washing my hands is the most important thing I do when I get home and spraying my gloves with disinfection fluids.

God Bless

Good Morning BigM62,

Were you getting On Body Injector (OBI) of Neulasta when you finished each chemo session? That is part of my standard treatment after each chemo of Docetaxel and Carboplatin. Self injects 27 hours later and boosts white blood cell production.

Med Onc says greatest risk of infection is in days 7-10 after last infusion.

Chemo #5 today, and so far minimal side effects.

Best wishes. Never Give In.

Mark, Atlanta

Interesting about your self injection. At my MO office they have me come back several days a week to get blood checked (10 min from house) and then, when i dip i get a nuelesta shot and then come back again next day to measure that its back up. Some rounfs i need just one nuelesta shot. Some rounds i have needed 3 before my numbers rebound. Im on round 7, so i have a clear pattern of 10 day nadir. In this case it looks like it went down several days early. Wbc was 1.7 sunday when i was admitted. Got a shot monday morning. Today im up to 1.9 so no new shot since its going up. All the 3 antibiotics they have me on seem to be working. I feel much better. But still have low fever and so no discharge date yet.
