Impulse Control
Couple for me;-keep busy...
-my medication helps
-like a child, I pay myself for doing tasks! That goes into a different account which I can spend!
-in the past, I've also changed my Amazon password and given it to the other half!
-If I haven't my meds and I'm out physically shopping, in struggling there too! Usually end up taking things back.
If you have a laptop or desk top. Remove shopping apps from your phone and only use another device
Online shopping is my biggest problem and I find that I tend to do it at night, or when I have acutely stressful things going on in my life. I am also a sucker for ads on Facebook, and they're algorithm is killer. No one needs 40 pairs of yoga pants, including me. When's the last time I did yoga?So I deleted Facebook, because I felt it also was negatively impacting my social life. I can't tell you how freeing that has been.
Also, if you're an online shopper, I highly recommend unsubscribing from all of the websites emails. I promise you, you will only spend more when you buy something from that 40% off sale... you will buy things that you don't need.
Speaking of which, it is time for me to unsubscribe from two more.
As the folks above have said, impulse shopping comes from something, somewhere. Why do you need that quick hit of dopamine? What's bothering you? Why are you hurting? Think about it, look at it even though it sucks, and hopefully you can address the root of the problem, versus a symptom. Good luck. It's damn hard. I say this with quite a bit overspent on my credit card. I'm a work in progress, and I'm okay with it. Awareness is the first step.
Get rid of internet, use cash not credit, don't shop on line
