I’ve been on stimulant medication since third grade. I am now going into my second year in graduate school and this shortage on adderall is immensely affecting me in so many ways. What tips or suggestions do you have? I’ve called 13 pharmacies and no luck.

Talk with your doctor about prescribing Dexedrine Extended Release or Dextroamphetamine Immediate Release. Dextroamphetamine is one of the two active ingredients in Adderall
You can also try switching to the methylphenidate (Ritalin) family of stimulants. As between adderall and Ritalin it’s basically 6 of one 1/2 dozen the other as to effectiveness. While some people do better on one or the other many people find them interchangeable for effectiveness. Plenty of cheap generics available too. Good luck!
I feel your pain. I have been taking Adderall for about a year. This summer though has been absolute hell. I am in the middle of writing and researching my dissertation. Writing for me has always been an agonizing process, especially once I was in Graduate School. The Adderall shortage has only made things even worse. It took me three months to type one paragraph and forget reading the archival materials and trying to make sense of it. My committee has just about had it with my excuses, but what can I do? Moreover, my doctor was very hesitant about prescribing another medication insisting that I keep calling various pharmacies. Finally, I convinced her to give me a different prescription and she put me on 50mgs of Vyvanase, which I started yesterday. I would ask your doctor if they could put you on something else. Also, talk to your professors and let them know what is going on. It’s better to keep them in the loop.
I wish you all the best in Graduate School. If you don’t mind me asking , what are you studying?
