At my wits end here. I am here visiting for an extended trip in LA from Ireland. I brought extra meds with me but am 2 weeks without them now as I extended my trip here for another month.
I had a call with a company called EZcare Medical and paid $195 to make a new diagnosis and send a prescription to a pharmacy here. Turns out this company is in Pakistan and no pharmacy except ADHD prescriptions through telehealth unless you have been physically seen. The company won't give a refund either.
I contacted a new clinic here but with the appointment cost and the medication, it sounds like it will cost 1000 dollars!
Any idea what i can do? I have tried getting my medication sent here from home but it will probably get stopped in customs and be delayed. I need enough meds until October 19th. Not sure what to do. Does anyone have any advice?
Thanks

You cannot get a prescription written in another country filled in the U.S. We have federal laws that govern all 50 states and in addition each sate has their own laws. In addition, if a prescription is for a drug like Adderall, Ritalin, Dexedrine, etc. The laws are much stricter than they are for other medications.
You can try a TeleMed app that is based in the US. Due to the Public Health Emergency due to covid. A doctor is not legally required to see a patient at least once face to face before writing a prescription for a Schedule II drug like Adderall, Ritalin, Dexedrine, etc. If you tell us the name of the medication you are trying to get a prescription for. Someone here can tell you if it is a Schedule II. Before you pay another TeleMed platform, be sure they can write a prescription in the state you are in. By the way, it is extremely difficult to impossible to get a refund from TeleMed platforms. I do not know if you could get a pharmacy to fill a prescription because you do not. have a US ID. But they might accept your Passport as a valid ID. Maybe someone here knows more about this than I do.
Thanks for your reply. I'm in Los Angeles. I am on Vyvanse. They prescribed me Adderall XR to save me money but the pharmacy told me there is a back log. They have Vyvanse but wont accept another online provider or the same crowd again if I have not been seen in person she said. This is a Walgreens. Both the EZcare medical people and the Walgreens pharmacist told me that CVS, Rite Aid, Walmart do not accept these prescriptions and now she said she wont either. EZcare medical are impossible to get a hold of or any answers from. It seems like I have no options
The state I live is the strictest or one of the top strictest. If you have a doctor from Ireland, have them put a letter with your diagnosis. Find a doctor that does telemedicine (look online for one with goods reviews) but ALOT of regular doctors already to telemedicine appointments. After covid the majority do it. If you go with a chain pharmacy, cvs, walgreens, etc it is highly likely they will ask to have to doctor change it if they are out of stock. Try the smaller pharmacies. My doc prescribed me adderall and as soon as I called him to tell him CVS sent me a text letting me know they are reaching out to him for an alternate medication he told me this happens often with his patients. So i chose my back up, mom and pop pharmacy and they had it. Also for Adhd medications typically, well in my area this is true, they prefer to send the script electronically to the pharmacy. Also without insurance 90 pills will run you arounf $150. Might fluctuate a bit but in my area it is that price.
Also YOU CAN send medication through the mail. BUT it has to have the labels from the pharmacy. I don’t know if the do that in your country, like with the patients name, who prescribed it, the medication directions for you…etc etc. My kid travels all over the world and we have sent pain medication, muscle relaxers and anti anxiety medication with no issues. We have used fed ex, ups and the united stated postal service. We always make sure the pharmacy had the label on the actual prescription bottles.
If all else fails, someone mentioned the embassy. There have been times they have helped out. since technically the embassy and soil belongs to the country the embassy is from, you wouldnt be sending medication to the US but an extension of your home country ☺️
Financially but will take time is to ship it, just get the proper labels. Or
Get ur doctor to email u letter, see a dr. That does telemedicine and have them write a script, just explain your situation. But ask before you pay for a visit. (They do prescribe first visit via telemedicine because that is how i did it when my doctor decide to go on an indefinite sabbatical) I just showed him the letter with my diagnosis and that the doctor said she is not available and for me to be treated.
I have a similar issue but in Europe, I was told to contact a psychiatrist, and if I want to at least try and get them sent over, to contact the embassy. Good luck!
