I recently diagnosed with Inattentive ADHD. Somehow I knew that I have an ADHD, did a lot of research on my own. Diagnoses was just for a clarification for me. The psychologist who diagnosed me, suggested to try medication. I didn't know it was so hard to find doctor who can prescribe medication. Please help.
Hi. Not the answer you're looking for, but often a psychologist will have a psychiatrist that they work with. That process would make it easier on you since they've worked together in the past. Best of Luck. Hang in there.

FYI, and I'm sorry I didn't tell you this the 1st time. About 1/3 of psychologists and psychiatrists are 'Whack Jobs'. So if you go to see one of these 'Specialists' and they make you feel bad or worse about yourself........... RUN. And keep running till you find one that you 'Click' with. You didn't mention how your ADHD affected you or the trouble it has caused you (which could include Anxiety, Depression, affecting your self-worth, and other ways). So whatever is or has caused you unhappy, over challenging experiences.......I wish you Relief, Peace of Mind, (and yes even,) Happiness. Never Give Up.
You can not find out over the phone what a doctor will and will not prescribe. How many doctors have you seen about medication ? You will need a copy of your test results from the psychologist. If he did not test you. That will make it harder to find a doctor that will prescribe medication. Without test results, the psychologist saying you have ADHD is only his opinion based on what you told him.
Thank you very much. They gave me the official test result, and recommendation of psychiatrist. But I called a lot of office and been told they are not taking any new patient. I guess it's related to covid or so.
You should ask the psychologist for a referral to a psychiatrist or GP who handles cases like yours. They usually will actually send the diagnosis directly to the doctor that they refer you to -- it isn't just giving you a name.

Not sure I follow you when you said it's hard to find a doctor who can prescribe meds. You mean there is a shortage of psychiatrists in your area? Or do you mean it's hard to schedule an appointment because people aren't taking new patients? Or do you mean you can't find a psychiatrist who takes your health insurance?
Therapists are reporting the highest client loads of their careers for the past two years. Covid has sent people rushing to therapists' offices. I assume the same applies to psychiatrists prescribing meds.

Did you ask if there was a waiting list ? A lot of doctors have waiting lists now. They might be long. but percpective patients get on several waiting lists. They usually forget to call the others doctors back and have their name removed when they get a call from a doctor. So it might not take as long as you might think to get a appointment.
Argh! Why is it so hard to find a doctor/therapist who will continue a successful treatment?
