I’m mentally exhausted of job options to apply to and nothing seems to click

I was in my fathers office and feel like I want to go exploring while he is working on something or I am waiting, my curiosity seems to never end when I wait for him for something, I go through old boxes, books (I looked at when I was a kid). Hyperactivity or inattentiveness?

I’ve had 4 interviews for medical assistant position in multiple departments but I end up not getting it. I think it’s because I truly am not interested in the medical field possibly and don’t show as high of interest since I feel like I’m just faking my excitement into the unknown.

The jobs I’ve held has been sales associate at hiking/outdoors store, production laborer at aluminum production and fruit warehousing, safety professional for government, construction and industrial environments (neither clicked with me), receptionist (nightmare of missing details either in emails or mess up filing something), behavioral technician with children autism, 1 month pizza cook at brewery, and currently classroom aide at a childcare center

You're definitely not the only one.

In college, I went through five schools and five majors (about 9 years of college spread over 22 years), and still no degree. I have multiple interests.

For career, I've done:

* At least 8 years of retail sales

* One year as an office aide at a charter school

* Two and a half years as a tutor at the same school

* One year as a correctional worker (the only job with benefits I was offered at the time)

* About 3 and a half years in retail management

* And now almost eleven years in information technology (IT).

I didn't get into IT work until I was 36. I began the journey to find my way in life at 18.

Because of my retail and tutoring experience, I excel at IT customer support. This is normally the entry level, and most people want to progress to back-end services (networks, servers, software platforms, etc). I had my fill of back-end work for a couple of years...I like the person-to-person contact of the front-line, and it works much better with my ADHD traits.

I've found that I am motivated by doing things that help people. I like the novelty of problem solving, and I like the novelty of working with technology and data (people-centric data, particularly). Even my technology focus is on systems that people interact with (websites, user interfaces/UI, user experience/UX).

If I were to go back to college right now, I've got my eye on a online degree in IT Data Analysis (which includes courses in web development and user experience design). I think I might like to do consulting or app/web development work, as part of a problem solving team.

Boxer4ever, it's hard to say what you will find to be a great career choice for you. If you have a strong interest, then try to find work in that.

I've read other posts of yours. You have an education in heath and safety, right? And if I recall right, you liked the freeform interaction of doing presentations? Maybe you can launch a podcast and/or YouTube channel. There's no guarantee of income for new podcasts and vlogs, but there's potential. If you make a name for yourself, it can lead to other opportunities. Maybe try it out at a hobby level commitment, to see if you like doing it.

...just a thought.
