Hi,

I've been wondering if this is Also due to Adhd....

I've been waiting to get this job that I was super excited about... the whole time I was home I was anxious and couldnt do even regular stuff like cleaning or tidying up and sometimes not even cooking. And I felt like there is alot to do I just couldn't do anything...

Now I got the job but again feeling anxious because I'm thinking will I be able to balance work and parenting and domestic work I'm being very overwhelmed that it is hard for me to really enjoy I got the job that I wanted 😭

Such a weird feeling...

Hi. Give us a little more info. Such as, were you always anxious, or has this started up lately since the prospect of the new job you wanted? How long ago were you diagnosed? Taking any Rx? If you are taking an Rx, what does it do for you?

Well yea I do usually suffer from anxiety. I was just diagnosed with adhd maybe a month ago. Up until then I didn't know much about it i just thought it makes people hyper and less focused. I recently discovered so many traits of adhd. The only reason I checked it I have it , it is because my daughter is between diagnosis of adhd or autism since she is too young to tell as the dr mentioned. But when it comes to anxiety like when I wanted to move to a new place I was super anxious I couldn't do anything but as soon as I finished moving felt ok. So now I was anxious for not having a job as soon as I got the job felt relief now anxious again lol. I feel like I wanna enjoy this "win" for me but it is hard . Plus always having anxiety I never knew if it is from trauma or adhd. Honestly I am not taking any medications now I feel like I am still processing all this and thinking how I lived this long maybe in the future I will not sure yet. I've been on antidepressants and wow the anxiety was gone, my constant overthinking stopped I felt relaxed for the first time in my life. The only reason I stopped them because I felt like this isn't me I'm always moving was weird to just sit there if that makes sense.

Sounds like anxiety. Therapy and meds are probably your best options. Yes, ADHD often comes with anxiety. There is no quick fix, that's why I say therapy and meds. You have to get to the bottom of your specific brain processes.

And sounds like you could benefit from the tools of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy ... but lots of great therapist use a range of techniques that will help.

Treating ADHD does not necessarily fix the anxiety problem. You have to devote specific attention to that. There's a misconception out there that treating ADHD fixes anxiety and depression. Nope. You gotta directly address those issues.

Hi! I was diagnosed with adhd just a few years ago after my daughter was diagnosed. I knew I had it but just did not know what to do about it.

In my teens I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression. I have been on so many medications and found that some of the medications were so bad for me for many reasons. I finally have settled into a treatment plan that include vyvanse, lexapro (which has an anxiolytic component) and a booster dose of Effexor.

Adding the Vyvanse changed my life! It almost immediately decreased my anxiety. Adderal did the same but it also made me crave sugar and I g

ained quite a bit of weight so I moved to Vyvanse. Life Changing in addressing my anxiety as well as helping with ADHD.

The Vyvanse does not replace therapy but it is seriously the best thing I have ever done for myself as far as adding to my treatment. I don’t feel the intense daily torture I had felt my whole life thanks to anxiety. Anxiety is horrible. It kills your confidence and creates serious havoc.

Great to hear you found the Vyvanse reduced/eliminated your anxiety. What do you think the Lexapro helps you with- depression alone? I was told Lexapro should help both depression and anxiety but doesn't seem to be very effective for anxiety even in combo with Ritalin. Any more details would be appreciated about how you combine medications to deal with anxiety, ADHD and depression. Also, have you experienced things working initially but then not as effective over time?

Just be aware: medications affect us differently. The medication that changed my life is the same one that my brother said had no effect on him. So getting details on a how a med affects another person probably won't work for you.

The best step is to tell your provider exactly what's going on and stimulate your provider to come up with their best solution. The medication regimen has to be tailored specifically to you and that takes trial and error over time. It also requires a bond between the patient and the prescriber.
