Elvanse and Dexamphetamine

Hi there - I have been on 20mg of Elvanse for a month which is working well. I want to sleep by 2pm though so my dr is putting me on a 5mg top up of dexamphetamine. Does anyone have experience of this? Will it get me through to the end of the day better?

I went from Sertraline to Elvanse in March because I found that I had low energy and basically wanted to sleep all the time (I had been on it for years to treat Anxiety and as a measure to treat ADHD). But I found as time went by, it had diminishing effects and I didn't want to go on higher doses (coming off Sertraline is a nightmare anyway).

Within a week of being on 20mg Elvanse, I stopped taking the Sertraline alltogether and it was absolutely fine. However, my psych did increase the Elvanse to 50mg/day as I was flagging early afternoon. So my magic dose is 50mg and that's all I'm taking. I don't sleep during the day, but sleep well at night (as long as I take the Elvanse first thing in the morning).

Instead of being on two stimulants, why not just try a higher dose of the Elvanse? Stick to what's working I say!

A nice benefit of Elvanse is that it curbs your appetite somewhat (I researched it and it's also used to treat over-eating). I still have regular meals, even if I'm not hungry, but it's aided some weight loss. My GP has me in every few months to monitor vitals and it's been absolutely fine.

dexamphetamine wears off really fast. when you first take any stimulant it can seem to last all day, but eventually it'll just last a few hours, depending on the dose of other stimulants. Usually I split the daily dose into 4 sections and that seems the best with dexamphetamine salt combo (which I assume is what you're taking as opposed to pure dexamphetamine)
