Hello, I am new here. I have been searching for advice. I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was a kid, finally got my medication in order years ago... recently had a fulll hysterectomy and now my meds don’t work(not effective) I have increased the dosage but not the same. I need som help on what is the best medication? Anyone have this issue?

I was high functioning all my life and wasn’t diagnosed until age 49, when my estrogen tanked. Symptoms get worse in ADHD women who are peri-menopausal or in full menopause. After all, estrogen is key to good cognitive function. I’ve found very little on this website for ADHD women & their hormones. There’s a great group on Facebook called “Perimenopausal Women with ADHD” that’s been super helpful for me with figuring out the hormonal component. facebook.com/groups/2202279...

I can totally relate to what you are saying. Same issue but I did not have a hysterectomy. I found a lot of info with hormone meds etc that help a lot. Unfortunately I can't take any because of breast cancer. The cells grow with estrogen. So if you know of anything that can replace hormone treatment etc...without real hormones please post. Good luck

Mary- I also was diagnosed with breast cancer so I am not able to take hormones too. I am trying to find some information but there is not a lot out there. How are you dealing currently ?

Both of you should contact your regional coordinator of women's health for the US Department of Health & Human Services. Mine has been a great advocate in helping me find appropriate treatment. womenshealth.gov/about-us/w...

I contacted her and they gave me some more option to research. I also called my pharmacist to see if she knew of anything regarding interactions and still nothing definitive guess it’s going to be a trial and error for the next two months or so or more. I’ll let everyone know how it goes

Well here I am, I have doubled my medication and I don’t think it is still effective. I tried adderal, but only made me sleepy. I am now going to try to get more help from someone other then my regular doc
