ADHD...Is Career Temp Work A Solid Idea?

So, I am interested in starting my own business (which will take a few years to build), therefore, I no longer I want to be tied to a permanent position. I just moved to a new area and I've had problems settling down and finding a job that I can work while cultivating my business...also, the jobs that i have been attracting are 100% customer service focus-type positions that leave me anxious and exhaustes. I recently talked to a friend who told me that they've made a career out of working at temp agencies and taking temporary assignments. Since I have ADHD (get bored with jobs really easily ans have had a massive amount of jobs), want more time to work on my business pursuits, and I'm tired of the typical nine-to-five gig , I thought this would be a great idea. Then I went to Google to find examples of people who want to work at temp agencies long-term and I could not find anything on the subject. I understand that most people want to find permanent jobs, but now a days temp agencies offer benefits and the flexibility of not having to work all the time while you pursue things more important to you is really appealing. Has anyone out there made a career out of working for temp agencies? Anyone have any advice?

I've worked temp jobs for months at a time but never really thought of it as a way to make a living, more it was just to survive. That being said, you could probably do it if you budget real well and, honestly, live on a shoestring budget, denying yourself some things you enjoy.

I would look at different temp companies and see what they're going rate is. Another thing I would suggest is substitute teaching. You have to get up early but your done in the mid afternoon giving you time to work on your business. Plus you can choose when you work giving you more flexibility. I think it might be a more dependable source of income than temping but the kids are a lot. :)

You can also rideshare with Uber or Lyft and food delivery with DoorDash, GrubHub and Postmates if they're in your area.

Good luck!

Thanks!!! I plan on doing all of the above (except subbing....kids make my anxiety level rise lol)...I have done doordash and grubhub in between gigs, and I can make a decent amount, so I figure that I could do that while waiting for the temp agencies to come through with additional jobs. I'm just tired of going thru this endless cycle of leaving jobs and I'm ready to finally do something I want to do while making ends meet. Temp agencies in my area generally pay $15 to $21 an hour, so I'd be great if I could keep up consistent work.
