I’ve been reading some really useful stuff on ADD particularly on home & family organisation. In the past week I read a kindle book which explained everthing perfectly and I highlighted every useful bit. It gave me so much hope that I could implement some strategies but now I can’t remember anything of what I’ve read!
What’s the best way to take the useful highlighted bits and actually remember to use them?!
I am really struggling at the moment. My life feels a mess. I have 2 youngish demanding kids, a busy job and a disorganised home and I don’t know where to start. The book gave me hope but now I feel defeated because I can’t implement any of it and I feel useless.

Hi Holly75,
Congratulations on finding a book that really resonated for you. Smallish kids, demanding job, disorganized home is a tough combo. As for remembering what you read implementing new strategies, it probably different for everyone. I loved my Nook for its convenience but like you, couldn't find anything I wanted to look back on. I have gone back to real books. It's the only way I can easily and quickly look back at information. Good luck!
Maybe you could look at highlights and just focus on integrating ONE tip at a time until it’s so obvious that it’s effortless. I listened to Atimic Habits and had a similar experience! I like that book because it gives ideas about how to make things OBVIOUS, rewarding, etc. things that we need to stick with them. For example, putting my gym clothes hanging over the TV. A book on my pillow and remote control hidden from sight.
Hi It’s great that you have found a great book to help you. I am currently reading a great book and I am taking notes. This will help me remember what I have read. Also implementing One tip at a time till it becomes routine works. I found with my ADHD I needed routine to do well. Yes having young kids and a busy job makes things much harder but if you try to implement one tip at a time and maybe write down a routine this will help in the long run. I know you can do it don’t let yourself ever think it’s impossible. One day at a time and remember there is always a new start if things don’t get done as you want it.
