Halloween candy

Hi my son has ADHD and also sensitivities to artificial coloring food dyes. We were at an outdoor fall event today that had a Halloween trick or treat event today as well which made me think to make a post here that may be helpful to some if they didn’t already know how bad artificial dyes are. All 5 trick or treat booths handed out different candy’s all which were kind our son can’t eat due to an almost instant 0 to 100 energy boost/allergic reaction. sour patch kids, skittles, airheads, smarties, tootsie pops. If your kiddo is newly diagnosed or your kiddo is struggling make sure you are aware of what foods and food colorings are going into their body and note how they react to them. Our son also can’t drink some gatorades due to the coloring in it. Just wanted to post this since it’s nearing Halloween and you can save your kiddo from having a rough time. 🙂 it’s crazy to me that so many artificial colorings and flavors are allowed in the USA and banned from other countries. California just banned the food dye coloring from school menus and people are starting to raise a fuss about these in cereals as well. ITS ABOUT TIME! The food sensitivities are a real thing and it’s super important kiddos ADHD and non adhd aren’t putting this in their systems.

Thanks for this post. I was just thinking about the strategies to use this year to deal with Halloween. My candies are all dye free and have no artificial flavors or colors BUT as much as I lecture my child about what to stay away from at school I just know, I just know....😒

I am so thankful my son likes chocolate a lot more than the colored candies. I have seen the chocolate is much less impactful and a good compromise for us. It's really a challenge to control their diets when surrounded by so many variables. But I agree, the color and sugar combo is awful!
