Hi! my 7yo son is on the generic of Abilify (we dose that at night - helps him sleep) but Ritalin didn't work for him. It made him more anxious and agitated and wasn't worth it. We are now trying generic Adderal with him, while keeping him on the Abilify.
That seems to be working ok right now. We also added fluoxetine (prozac) a few months ago and it has helped the most. I didn't realize so many of his behaviors were coming from his anxiety.
The medication journey is not easy and straightforward (for most of us). Keep track of how your child does and communicate with your doctor often. Many here have had success with medication and I am hopeful it'll be helpful for us eventually too.
If he is taking it in an empty stomach, try giving him food a half hour before hand
