Our grandson has tried 2 stimulant and 2 non stimulant drugs and an SSRI for anxiety. He developed eye tics on all of them. Once we stopped them, the eye tics gradually stopped. We heard about Gene Sight whereby a cheek swab is submitted for analysis. Awaiting results. Curious if anyone has used DNA testing ?

my partner did use gene check. And it was able to tell us the medicine with the least side effects for his genetic makeup. Only thing we needed to do was adjust dosage and it was a good fit. Worth the wait because the guessing game seems to be an issue most times.
As for the tics… neither of my kids did gene testing and got tics from their meds, but the tics gradually left for my stepdaughter and I’m hoping is the case for my daughter (newer still to the med). One cleared their throat, the other chatters teeth and hums.
Thanks for your feedback. Our grandson's tics were quite bad so we just couldn't continue the meds. How bad were your stepdaughters tics and how long did it take for them to resolve?
throat clearing was pretty constant for my stepdaughter. It was annoying at first then concerning since she could make the throat raw sometimes. The humming seems to be only when being a potato on electronics and isn’t as prevalent. We usually divert it by talking with her or getting attention rather than being in “auto mode”. We started meds with my bio daughter just a couple months ago, and it took 6-9 months for my stepdaughters to stop. Even talking about it raised her anxiety, let alone asking if she was ok since she didn’t even notice it was happening and became embarrassed. I think doing counseling and meditation helps the tics diminish. Physical activity to focus on too, since those are when I don’t notice them as much.
What do eye tics look like?
