Desperate for my 17 year old son to get some help, medication and therapy both will help, however good doctors are booked in advance for 2-3 months! I feel like I am literally screaming for help and can't believe how rude/not helpful operators are sometimes!
Any help

I could give a whole TED talk on how broken our medical system is. But … since we can’t do anything about that … This is my “method.” I take the appointment no matter how far in the future it is and then ask to be out on the wait list. Then I keep asking around for more recommendations. Sometimes the receptionists at the busy doctors can make suggestions. I get off the waitlist surprisingly often but even for the long waits, time eventually does move and somehow I feel better about it if I’ve done as much as I could.
we are in the exact same boat but even trickier since our son is now 18, so let’s see if we are going to be able to be part of the conversation. We are in the ucla system and although they are top rated in mental health are so strained it’s terrible. Best of luck to you and yes, waitlist - email - plead!
I've been going through the same trouble trying to get a diagnosis and treatment for my 17 year old. I've decided to try going through our pediatrician and hoping it works out. I also found, for therapy specifically, that MDLive has worked really well. They can get you in for talk therapy really quickly. The ADHD diagnosis has been a whole other monster. We have an appointment in January so I'm hoping it works out. I was hoping to find one person to do talk therapy and medication management but got frustrated with the process and gave up.
