My son is 13 in 7th grade they changed his meds to Vyvanse he’s really irritable and he can’t control his emotions. Breaks my heart he’s already on Sertaline and Zoloft. Should I stop his meds and change it.

I am having the same problem on Vyvanse. My 8 year old can't finish a sentence at school, he gets emotional crying, he basically walks in circles when he is not on it he is happy as a lark, never crying and speaks better than I do at most times. I feel the dosage may be too high for him as it is 30 mg. I absolutely hate what Vyvanse turns him into. Anyone else's thoughts?

I’ve had this happen and in our case the dose was too high. I would stop the medication right now and call the doctor today. Vyvanse is a good medication at the right dose.

Most definitely call the doctor. Now. This may not be the right medication. Doctors rely on parents to monitor side effects and this warrants a phone call to the doctor today and it’s his job to figure out what needs to be done. I have called after 2-3 days and the doctor jumped right on it. Child psychiatrists are best for medication management.
