I have a bottle of Adderral 10 mg short acting for my 12 year old daughter. I will start Wednesday to see how it goes. We have tried medication in the past but not for a couple years. We tried Ritalin and the side effects were so strong. She threw up and felt awful. We tried Adderral but she would become very emotional as it wore off. So we are trying Adderral again. She is older and home because of COVID-19 so I can see how it goes. If needed I can give her a half dose as she comes down. I have had the bottle for about a month and keep making excuses to put off starting medication. I try to hide my anxiety about it. I guess I am just looking for encouragement. I typed this message up and then it would not post so my apologies if I post it twice!

Adderral 10 mg starting Wednesday
Hi there, I myself of have Inattentive ADHD. For a lot of people with ADHD, the age of 12 and around the time many enter puberty, is a really difficult age/transition. School can become very stressful. Stimulant medication, like the ones mentioned, help the brain with the neurotransmitters Dopamine and Norepinephrine. When stimulant medication wears off, those two neurotransmitters will be lower than usual and will take a bit to rise back up to equilibrium. Many people experience irritability and or sadness when the medication wears off. The supplement N-Acetyl Tyrosine helps the brain with Dopamine and Norepinephrine as well, in a smaller capacity. I myself take it, and take it an hour or 30min before my medication wears off, this way the medication crash (irritability and or sadness) is eliminated/diminished. As a safety precaution, the supplement CoQ10 helps keep blood pressure/heart rate stable (increased heart rate/blood pressure is a common stimulant medication side effect). Speak with your healthcare provider about supplement usage if you consider trying supplements. You made a wise and helpful choice as a parent to seek treatment for your daughter at this age, I certainly wish I had help for my condition at that age. I work with the ADHD community and have been researching ADHD for the last 5yrs. If you're interested further in supplements that help out ADHD, I made a google word-doc list of all the supplements I take, along with info on how they help ADHD. You can click my profile pic, and in my profile bio you'll see the link (I also have an ADHD youtube channel). I'm not sure what type of ADHD your daughter has, but I wish you guys the best. I hope this helps.
