I’m reading so much complications with the public school system and a child with ADHD. I have a soon to be husband still working at age 70 in the health care field. These folks seem to be understanding or accepting. To understand ADHD takes more then a nod or ok. Yet acceptance is good. He deals with the paranoia though - what are they really saying? He will retire soon. There is a reason for his occupation at this time. I believe I can say this - he has rented a rather expensive apartment - to fill the hole in his life. I came into his life after all was done. Yet I’ve read what ADHD folks will do...that is one of the things. Many of us do the same response to feel better: shopping spree, buy a car etc. and when that’s not enough...other vices can happen.

So what he and I are doing now is getting some direction, ground rules and life seems to smother with hic ups on the way.

All I know is to keep the line open for communication no matter what.
