Has anyone initiated / attended a 504 impartial hearing? After an entire year of battling the school for my 15 year old and a filing a complaint to the Office for Civil Rights, the school district is suggesting an impartial hearing. Just curious if anyone has been through this
. thanks

No, but do you have an advocate to help you? It sounds like to me they disagree with you? Just curious what you are asking for? Do you have documents to help support your position? So hard to have to fight for our children...sorry
I have worked with an advocate all year- flighting for accommodations. He has ADHD and learning disabilities- all documented with private evals. He attended a private, special school for dyslexia before transferring to public school. They won't give him accommodations because he is not failing. The impartial hearing is part of a resolution that the district is proposing for my Office for Civil Rights complaint. Such a long process.
I am sorry becuase what they fail to see and learn is that what it takes to learn is not the same for your child and that is the reason for the accommodations.
The hours it takes with a LD without the accommodation just to earn a C is crazy, often.
I am really hoping that the Special Education legislation will force schools to see things different.
