Has anyone switched from Ritalin to Adderall and seen improvement? My 6 year old son has been on Ritalin 5mg (2x per day) with not much improvement in focus and impulse control. A day here and there at best. His dr. Has suggested switching to Adderall 5mg to see if it makes a difference. Any success stories?

We we're on Vyvanse 5mg then 10mg. He would get extremely violent during the come down of the medication.

Switched him to 10mg Adderall extended release. Some help but not enough. He was switched to 20mg over Thanksgiving. Noticable difference. He is focused and not hyperactive. There is a 14 day period of their emotions going up and down: he was zombie, angry, or sad. Then each day got a little better and now he is just him and calm.

He still has behavior issues : they Adderall brought him down and able to focus, but he is still stubborn and still has processing emotions problems. So we are working on that, but now he can at least focus to learn.

Another side effect is he doesn't want to eat at all.

Overall, at this time, we like the medication.
