Hi. My son was Diagnosed with ADHD 2 yrs ago. We tried meds adderall but the outcome was not good. My son was getting very aggressive and would complain about not feeling good with the meds. We started 10mg then 15mg...and got the RX 30mg but at this point we decided no meds. My son asked us to pls not give him those meds. We had the option to try other meds but decided no more meds. He's now in IEP plan at school and we help him at home .
Has anyone done the neuro feed back? I did some research on it but not to sure about this and it's costly.

We have an 11 year old boy, who did neurofeedback for 18 months (twice a week). He was already taking meds (low dose Vyvanse) at the beginning of the treatments. Our hope was that the neurofeedback would eliminate the need for meds, but at best it just helped us to lower the dosage. We also switched to Adderall (15 mg) and have stabilized at that level. It is unclear to us if the neurofeedback had much of a benefit (at least in the short run); however, we are planning to check back in with the neurofeedback clinic and have an updated EEG once a year to see how his brain wave patterns have changed. There is now available a more advanced technique, 3D neurofeedback, that is supposed to require fewer treatments. You can read about the differences if you search online. Depending upon where you live, it may be more challenging to find a clinic that offers the 3D. Bottom line on nuerofeedback is that I am glad that we pursued it; however, it was hard to measure the incremental impact on ADHD treatment alternatives. It seems like a complementary piece to a more comprehensive plan.
