Apixibam and Periods

Hello, I have been on Apixiban since Feb 20 due to having Bilateral Blood Clots in lower lungs. My periods on Apixiban have been longer and heavier. I have started taking Desogestrel and nearly at the end of my 1st pack, I also take Apixiban. My 1st period came last Friday and it started out with reduced flow, for the last 2 days my bleed has been like before very heavy. The Doctor said it would take a few months to reduced the flow. I wondered what people experiences were of been on desogestrel or another form of minipill. I am hoping it will get better, I have always had heavy periods but the Apixiaban has made them worse. Thank u 🙂

When I was on warfarin for my blood clot on the brain my period was off the chart heavy. 10 days of needing hourly change of sanitary product and still bleeding through sometimes. This went on for about 6 months or more and thankfully I was able to come off the medication and menopause made life in that area much easier.

There isn't a good way of saying that I don't think there's much you can do about it. But good luck 😊

I'm on rivoxaban my periods were hurrendous on this.

I've had the coil fitted and it's made a massive difference I could go on no longer the way I was going.

I ended up anaemic I was short of breath I kept fainting .

It's all settled down now since having the coil fitted last September .

I'm on rivoxaban for life now .

Hope you get sorted soon
