I have a torn rotator cuff in my right shoulder. I am a righty. I am 73 years old. I am the caregiver for my wife, who has Alzheimer’s & due to several falls in 2020, needs help with everything. I have an aide for 32 hours weekly. Caring for my wife, lifting etc. has caused the injury. It’s been since late in June 2021, that I’ve suffered with this. The surgeon is concerned due to my age, history & how painful & difficult the recovery is.
I am also an avid table tennis player & haven’t been able to play since June. I tried a month of PT, made it worse. Month of acupuncture, helped with some of the pain & had a cortisone shot, temporary relief.
I am not sure what I should do. Anyone who has gone through this or knows someone would be helpful.

Hi Irazig,I understand what you're going through. I damaged my rotator cuff 2 years ago. This was 3 months after major surgery, I was told it's called a frozen shoulder and it will eventually go away. I am maybe 80% recovered, as I said I had major surgery 3 months previously. Have you been given any physiotherapy exercises? You need help with caring for your wife otherwise it cannot heal. Gentle exercise would help but unless our treatment is different in the U.K it could take a long time. I truly hope you can get help.
