Can someone help advise me on accessing Oxycodone in this country

I'm a UK citizen and I lived abroad for a few years. Unfortunately I had an accident while on my moped. I came off and shattered my wrist as well and done my back in. They put me on oxycodone 30mg twice daily and they gave me a quality of life but once I returned here I feel like I'm having to jump through hoops and I'm getting really deflated. I came back because of an ill family member and I can't go back until flights resume normally. Can I not get a private prescription from a private GP surgery or hospital? I don't know how much more I can take in this pain. I have never joined a forum but I am desperate. Please help

Are you registered with a GP? If not find one, should be easy enough. And make an appointment to see him/her. Explain your predicament and I am sure they can sort you out. I only had oxycodone after my operations (4 spinal ones). But it’s very addictive and found that dihydrocodeine did help equally good really which can be prescribed easily enough.

Oxycodone and Oxycontin are both a class A drug in the UK and you will not get it unless you have a prescription and/or your Doctor thinks you really need it. I was on it for years and became physically dependant on it. To come off it, I ended up in a drug treatment centre. I'd advise you don't take it and ask a Dr for something else, less addictive. It's a horrible, dangerous drug - look at all the problems wit its in the USA.

Hi Woktum. I don't think Oxycodone comes as that brand in the UK. I would assume equvilant is Dihydrocodeine. Prescribing of opioids in the UK is tightening up due to abuse and dependence. Private prescriptions may be possible however, they are expensive and it's only a minority of Doctors or Specialists who would do this. As you were on them before i don't see the problem. Have you tried going private?. Hospital specialists can prescribe also but it's your GP who would have to be happy and in agreement to put the medication on repeat. How long are you expecting to stay on them?.

I don’t know the stats in the UK but in the USA our drug reinforcement agency decided to ignore the real reason we are in a heroin crisis epidemic. They decided to crack down and go crazy on opiates in this country and now they are saying we are in crisis due to opiates the real reason is because they are scaring the shit out of doctors and taking away their licenses even throwing them in jail for prescribing opiates they are extremely hard to get from doctors now due to the fear but the truth is the heroin epidemic here is out of control because people in severe chronic pain are no longer able to get a doctor to write opiates even if they have been on them for years causing panic and people turning to heroin in desperation or buying from the street pills laced with fetanyl it’s ridiculous in the states right now and won’t get better unless the DEA lets doctors do their jobs and stop letting shady doctors ruin it for everyone!
