Hi BB. At its most basic level pain medication works by blocking the pain signals received by the brain so it doesn't matter if that pain is from a broken leg or a torn muscle.

Some medicines develope for one condition have been found to help another. I take Carbamazopine which is primarily for epilepsy but helps my trigeminal neuralgia which is a nerve condition.

Doctors do prescribe medication specific to the type of pain for instance nerve pain.

Are you struggling with pain at the moment ?

Hi dee yes i am struggling im taking cocodamol30/500 and naproxen but to no avail!im going to get back to docs and see what they can do.thank you for the info

There are actually it of painkillers designed to help certain/specific pain problems and areas and things like muscles or nerves it’s all about talking it through with the doctor and finding what the cause of the pain is. Although that is easy said than done for a lot of people lol .

If you feel your painkillers just aren’t helping anymore or your having a bad flare up for example then definitely go back and talk to the doctor and see if they can suggest something different or extra for you depending on the problem x

Ouch :( are you having a bad flare up or are you always in a lot of pain? I feel like the painkillers your on really aren’t the best for what’s wrong with you, or do they normally work?

X
