Hi I'm new to posting although have been lurking for quite a while. I am in my 70s and have suffered with ankylosing spondilitis and spinal arthritis since I was about 14 and have never been able to find any relief. Just keeps getting worse one way or another. Had carpal tunnel ops and injections into my wrists but they only seemed to make it worse. I remember my shorthand typing teacher saying "Girls, remember if you type you will never get arthritis". I really would like to give her a piece of my mind. The pain gets so bad at times I wish I could put my head in the oven if I could bend (luckily no gas). I have become so confused with all the medication that I made a pact with myself that I would only take stuff when it became really bad. Some hope! Anyway, to the lady with the itching I was wondering if you were perhaps taking morphine (oramorph?). I find when I take more than one dose a day I itch like mad, especially around my feet and ankles. I'm on blood pressure tablets and wondered if that might also have something to do with it. Just a thought. The things that go through your mind when you don't know what to do with yourself except go to bed and hope against hope that you will wake up without any pain, some hope!
It was great getting that off my chest, have been wanting to talk to somebody but was a bit shy. I now see so many people suffering with the same aches and pains I wish there was a magic formula for us all, why are we here I wonder just to suffer and make other peoples' lives a misery having to look after us? I'm sure that can't be right.
Thank you for listening and have an easier and less painful day. Norma
