Why do AN's alaways seem to be on the left side? Is there only one auditory nerve serving both ears? Keith

No there are 2 each ear has their own otherwise after having one we would be totally deaf in both ears

When people join BANA they have the chance to attend local meetings (if there are any in their area) I send out questionnaires in which I ask which side and it is coming out around 50/50 at the moment

I carried out an online survey of members of an AN support group a few years ago and the results then on a sample of around 180 showed about 52% left and the remainder right. As Jackey says, a larger sample would almost certainly show 50/50. Mine is left hand by the way!
