My husband had his AN successfully removed about 8 years ago translab. At the time they found the AN, they also found a meningioma in a different location. It was small so he was on Watch and Wait. So for the next 6 years at his yearly MRI which was done at a medical center that was close to our home and not connected with his surgeon, they found absolutely no growth in the AN (as it was determined it was completely removed), but it's always nice to have confirmation! His Meningioma however, each year grew a tiny bit so tiny in fact it couldn't be calculated. For the next several years, only tiny growth. He finally had an appt with his original surgeon. The surgeon suggested that he should compare the first ever xray of the meningioma with the last one rather than just comparing it to the previous one last year. Indeed, all these "minor growths" turned out to add up. The radiologist kept comparing it to the year before. Had the surgeon not done this, we would assume it was barely growing! As it turned out it had grown enough to cause an issue. He was successfully operated on 2 years ago with complete removal but it was difficult as it started to affect his optical nerve. Thank G-d the excellent surgeon Jacques Morcos at The University of Miami thought of comparing the first one to the last one rather than just comparing to the year before. All those slight growths added up.
