Personally I don’t think GK is a smart option because when I underwent GK several years ago for severe trugeminal neuralgia, I suffered a stroke. GK has many disadvantages and side effects as well.

Whilst I am sorry to hear about your issues after GK for a different problem, as an AN treatment it is a pretty good option. ALL AN treatments have possibly side effects, statistically GK has fewer than many others including all types of surgery.
Sheba1027:
No surgery, whether GK or invasive, is guaranteed to be done well. When I received my GK surgery in 2002 there were few hospitals doing it. The best place at the time was in Pittsburgh, PA, who had done over 800. Locally, they had only done 178, but I decided to do it locally. At first they messed up the placement of the head brace but then got it right and the GK surgery was successful.
My point is that just because one receives some kind of surgery it doesn't mean that it was done correctly. Statistics show that GK surgery is done correctly (on the right size tumor by a competent neurological team) 70% to 90% of the time, with some studies showing 95% success.
Invasive surgery has a lower success rate (60% to 85%) or so it seems; see that attached link:

Hi Dean
May I ask a rather strange question ?
I am wanting to write to the brain surgeon to ask for NA to be removed as I would wish my hearing to come back for a better quality of life.
I pick my head(feeling silly for saying this).directly inline vertically with my ear 1/4 up from the edge of my head.
It does not bleed at all but have broken skin is red and bloody hurts to be honest, just can’t stop it at the moment.
Can I ask as I have this in my head with a surgeon still you the gamma knife on my head or would my head picking have to be stopped and head healed as of infection?
Regards
