Blood test for comparison

I went yesterday for a blood test (not for inr), the bruising reminded me how lucky I am to be a self tester. I do have to go and get a venous check periodically and self test straight after so that they have both results as a comparison to check my machine. Sure all you long term self testers know this.

Yes you should, I have been told every six months, I would check with your anticoagulant clinic how often they would like you to check.

Hi daisyd,

I already do have the comparison test done, thank you for making me aware though.

That was why I thought I would write a quick blog. Six monthly is so much better than weekly, fortnightly then monthly and you forget about the bruising till you have these random tests..

Hi Daisyd

I had monthly comparison checks for 6 months when I started self testing 14 years ago but then they stopped and just left me alone to get on with it. I have had comparison tests each year for the last 3 years but now I can get that done at my GP who uses a Roche Coaguchek multi-user version so that is a finger prick test too with no bruising. Quite a lot of GPs and Local health centres are now doing this.

Hi

I have a comparison check done 6 monthly @ my local hospital. But its compared with there own Coag xs machine against mine. Its nearly always spot on. So i do not have to endure any venous samples {great}
