Its not about punishing you, or raising the last fence to high for you to climb. Its usually a preparation before keyhole surgery to shrink your liver to make the operation easier for the surgeon and better for you. Ask your team about the regime they use as it varies around the country.

usually you go onto a liquid diet for about a week or so to shrink the liver. I had a Gastic Band in 2006 and had to drink Slimfast 4 times a day for 5 days.

Would be very interested to hear some of your opinions of gastric band surgery, long term.

I haven't had the pre-op diet but I know my surgeon does not like protein shakes. My NUT called it a slider food. I will be eating food. Just not sure yet. No protein shakes after surgery either. I have been using them, when I am in a hurry & they don't fill me up.....
