PETA wool advert banned

Hi,

PETA have had their poster for advertising that the wool industry is as cruel as the fur industry banned for giving false information.

Here is the daily mail article if you are interested. I personally think it’s very disappointing as the wool industry is very cruel and certainly doesn’t have animal welfare at the heart of what they do.

I used to think that the sheep needed to be shorn but apparently without human intervention the sheep would produce just enough wool to protect them and therefore wouldn’t need to go through the stress and pain of being sheared according to PETA. The wool would then shed as required through the summer.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Do you wear wool?

Ali 😁🌱

(I took this photo of the sheep at Hard knott pass in the Lake District 🙂)

I did see this on the news this morning. I personally feel that wool is cruel, I never wear wool. It also upsets me to see the sheep with ink on there back or tags in there ears - they are living creatures not "stock" they get scared and feel pain like we do. I always feel bad waking past a field with cows or sheep etc in because I know there fate.

Good on PETA, they do an amazing job, and being on the news has given them publicity - they will turn it around and show the evidence

I agree 100% Debs I feel exactly the same as you and this would have been a lovely photo if they didn’t have paint all over them.

I'd nog seen this on the news. I haven't read the whole article but I can see that Prince Charles and others are saying sheep need to be shorn but the other side of the argument, PETA, say they shed naturally so don't need to be shorn.

I have seen sheep in fields shedding their own wool so I would hazard a guess that PETA are right.

BTW, I don't buy or wear wool. A thought provoking article Ali.

Yes I think you’re right they would just shed their wool if left to their own devices. People can be so cruel to animals.

Yes cruelty is unfortunately rife, so very sad. Am I'm glad I'm a Vegan.

Hi Ali, no I don't wear wool (or fur ) . There are plenty of choices without using animals for so many things. Where i live we have many fields mostly sheep and I love watching the lambs as they run around without a care in the world !!!

If only they knew !!!!😿x
