πŸŽ„ Christmas feast πŸŽ„

I imagine everyone is getting ready for Christmas and wondering what food they will have to celebrate.

We tend to have a Christmas feast on Christmas Eve and a nut roast on Christmas Day. If there is nut roast left we will have it the next day with mashed potatoes and a selection of pickles.

The feast is basically a selection of different foods that I think we will enjoy. This year I’m going to make some vegan sausage rolls, some with marmite and some with harissa etc and do a selection of salads, like my beetroot and lentil salad and an avocado potato salad so over the next week I’ll be looking for inspiration. Last year I made a pavlova but this year I’m short on time so will be looking at a dessert that’s quick to put together.

What vegan food makes Christmas special for you? and do you have any favourite recipes or dishes to share?

Hi Ali, I'm having the Nut Roast I've made and frozen and will have veggies and either quinoa or sweet potatoes with it. I'm the only Vegan in the house so will have to cook different food for everyone else. I would love everyone to be Vegan but you can't force the issue. My daughter though has bought me a Vegan Chocolate Torte from Asda and she was really excited having found me a Vegan dessert. :)

I'm having to ease off on the cooking as I've got no freezer space and I'm going to have to run the freezer down as we will be buying a new one after Christmas so I'll be relying on the supermarket for inspiration for a while, not a problem there though as supermarkets are getting better and better with their Vegan ranges. :)

Sounds good to me Alicia as least if you’ve officially run out of space you can now call it day lol πŸ˜†

That's definitely the case.πŸ˜‰ Once Christmas is over I'm going to have to eat what I've got in the freezer as we're going to buy another one as it's very old and the seal's not good.

Sometimes I invite family and they have a gluten free nut roast and one thing I do like to do is make some gf stuffing and bake it in hollowed out Portobello mushrooms.

Ever since I was a child I've felt that Christmas pudding was by far the best part food wise.

This year I've Christmas cards left to post and then I'm sorted...as for food I'll eat what I feel like as usual...except I've already got 2 Christmas puddies...and my local whole-food shop sell amazing organic gf vegan Chrissy puds so a 3rd in on the cards...πŸ˜€

Well why not have 3! and then when the sales come they will be selling them off cheap and then the possibilities are endless πŸ˜‚

We'll be having a chestnut roast for Christmas day, plenty of steamed sprouts and oil free roast veg with my own take on gravy.

Sounds great. Sprouts are the best bit, I love them.
