I have just watched this video. Interesting, especially the bit about Cholesterol in the middle. Veganism and vegetarianism for athletes.

Hi jimmyq this is interesting but the link doesn't work so here it is again:

Interestingly the Inca warriors marched to war eating a diet of mostly quinoa and fat and that was around 3000 years ago...

Anything Dr Michael Greger says is worth listening to in my opinion.. Nutritionfacts.org is a really good not for profit website. Have you read his book " How Not to Die" ? Well worth a read if you haven't.

How is it working for you?

I had 4 bypasses before stents were in wide use, 1997, when I was 41. After that I was OK until 2016, which means that my diet was "good". In 2016 heart disease raised its ugly head again.

The ideal Blood Pressure is 120/80. Mine has been as high as 240/140 in 2016 but went down with treatment. I still had a mini-stroke in 2017 though. I started the WFPB diet in March 2018. My BP is now 120/80. I keep a record and these are the averages, rounded up.

The ideal cholesterol is below 5. Mine was 6.5 for years, nothing budged it until this diet. It is now 3.7.

My weight was 14.5st and is now 12.5st, the same as when I was in my twenties.

I stopped using milk years ago to cure sinusitis. I have never eaten much meat, I don't like it. So it is cheese and eggs that have done me in.

Hi jimmy, I haven’t as yet suffered any real health issues so my reason for adopting a WFPB diet was to try and prevent any occurring , fingers crossed. Really interesting about the cheese and eggs causing problems for you though. Now I know more about nutrition I can see why they would but up until about a year ago I thought eggs were a healthy option , how wrong I was !
