I have a critical illness policy with Legal and General and keyman insurance policies at work. Neither of these recognise polyarteritis nodosa or vasculitis as an illness to trigger payment, however their underwriters have advised me that if I reach a stage where kidney transplant and regualr dialysis are required, then I will be able to claim.

I have spent a fortune over the year son critical illness; seems to me know it just like another PPI style insurance; sold as a benefit that in reality you can never claim!

I had a Critical illness policy initially with Allied Dunbar. However in time Allied Dunbar was taken over by Zurich Assurance. They refused to pay on the grounds that my Wegener's Granulomatosis was in remission. However, the irony is, that a few months earlier they had invited me to extend my policy but when they heard that I had suffered from Wegener's Granulomatosis they refused! And I also find it ironic that Insurance Companies load my Holiday premiums because of my medical history! But that's insurance companies for you...

I had a critical illness policy. When i enquired about making a claim, they said i wasnt covered for wg, even though according to my consultant , i had been critically ill several times. it was only a small policy, but it would have been a great help as i had to stop working. I have since stopped the policy as it was of no benefit to me. I personally think the insur comany have no idea what wg is.
